A Note from the Producing Artistic Director:
The director’s note is traditionally for what I as a director would want you as the audience to know about the show.
So, what would I want you to know— well… what you are about to see is incredibly silly and fun— as long as you don’t think about it too hard! It is about a school in the 1950’s living under the threat of the cold war. It is about a principal plowing her way through the world. It is about a group of kids caught between childhood and adulthood— and mostly it is about acceptance and determination in the face of adversity.
But in reality, it is about none of those things— it is just silly and fun.
The other thing I want you as the audience to know is that this show has a community of ideas, determination, and hard work behind it. Everyone behind the scenes and onstage has had a hand in creating this world and these characters. Never before have I worked in this cooperative of an environment.
The thank you list for this one is long, and we are so blessed to have so many people involved!
Thank you to-
-Frank, Amogha, Jennifer, and Mikayla— Thank you for all you have done to make this production a reality! You have all adapted and modified as we went— creating in a non-traditional way.
-Kyle, Heather, Kristen, Abby, Emma, Michael, Alex, Sebastian, Ralph, and Emily— Thank you for all of your ideas, your enthusiasm, and your dedication! Thank you for the numerous hours you spent helping with set building and set painting!
-Shelley and Heather- Thank you for these amazing costumes that look like they are off of a movie set! Thank you for always being willing to go to the extra mile to make our productions shine!
-Joshua- Thank you for making this set design a reality! You took what was in my head, got it on paper, and then made it a reality!
-Blaise and Sebastian- Thank you for working so hard on sound design and lighting design! You always come running when I have an idea!
-Keith and Carlyn- Thank you for always being willing to help with sound setup and equipment!
-Tami- Thank you for always being willing to jump in and help, even your life is crazy.
-Roe- Thank you for always jumping in and helping with everything from backstage crew to cleaning!
Thank you to you, the audience, for being here and supporting this amazing cast, crew, and New Tampa Players!
-Nora Paine, Producing Artistic Director
